Gymboree Classes

http://www.gymboreeclasses.com/index.jsp

Cost: $45 New Member Initiation Fee, $69 per month per child for the location and 45-minute classes such as "Gym Play and Learn" and "Music III".  Select a location and click on the class to view the class fee.
Ages: 0-5 Years; Music III is 28 months to 5 years; Gym Play and Learn has different age groups offered at various times
Location: I researched Scripps Poway but there are also franchises in Clairemont Mesa and Solana Beach.  Scripps Poway offers a Sports II class on Mondays at 10:45am (as of Feb. 2010), which is a drop-off class (no parents), whereas most of the other classes are parent participation.
Saturday sessions? Yes!
Have we tried it? Yes!  After hearing my coworker rave about it, I decided to take my son to a free trial class at the Scripps Poway location.  His grandpa had slept over the night before, however, and he was upset about having to say goodbye to him 15 minutes earlier so he was cranky. The class was in the closed room but he wanted to play in the colorful gym area that has slides, balls, mats, and all kinds of cool stuff, and that class was for younger kids (they often have 2 simultaneous classes on the weekends).  The staff was very sweet about it and asked if we wanted to come back for the next class which was in his age range, so we did--and boy, did he love it!  During the 45 minutes he preferred to play rather than listen to the very patient and talented teacher (as did a couple of other kids), but she was awesome and said that was normal the first time and the more he came, the more he would understand the structure and want to be involved with the group activities.

We signed up and he got a cool goody bag, plus they have some great specials right now (Feb. 2010)--$20 off the new member fee and $25 in Gymbucks.  The membership lets you preview other classes and gives you 2 free classes to be used at another location if you travel.  The place is also very clean and safe.  I also love love love the flexibility--they offer makeup classes in case you miss one, and it doesn't have to be the exact same class (as long as it's the same monthly fee).  We're looking forward to the next class already and hope the experience is consistently wonderful!
