Registration Day: Sign-ups for classes will be held on May 21 and May 22 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Del Norte Aquatics Center. We are offering a FREE swim assessment to correctly place swimmers in appropriate levels. Swimmers, please come prepared to hop in the pool with us.
PUSD Employees will get priority registration on
May 20, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm

  • The objective of Level 1 is to help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely.
    • 1a. First Swim Lesson
    • 1b. Had swimming lessons before
  • In Level 1a, Your First Swim Lesson- Introduction to Water Skills (minimum age 4 years).The objective of Level 1a is to help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. Elementary aquatic skills will be taught and built on as they progress through the six Learn-to-Swim levels. At this level students will start developing good attitudes and safe practices around the water. We will explore movement in the water, observe what comes naturally to your child and build on their strengths. We will begin to address any fears of water. Learning to swim will be fun, safe and rewarding for everyone.
  • Level 1b Introduction to Water Skills (minimum age 4 years) Your child will qualify for this class if he or she has had swimming lessons before. Elementary aquatic skills will be taught and built on as they progress through the six Learn-to-Swim levels. At this level students will start developing good attitudes and safe practices around the water. We will explore movement in the water, observe what comes naturally to your child and build on their strengths. Learning to swim will be fun, safe and rewarding for everyone.
Encourage your students to explore movement in the water. You should observe what comes naturally to them and build on their strengths. Let students ask questions, so you can begin to address any fears. As the course progresses, provide a wide variety of experiences to meet the course objectives. If you approach your task with creativity and enthusiasm, learning to swim will be fun, safe and rewarding for everyone.



Level 2- Fundamental Aquatic Skills (must be 6 years old)


Fundamental Aquatic Skills (must be 6 years old) Students entering this course must have a Level 1 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 1. In this level, students will learn to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills. Students explore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to lay the foundation for future strokes. Level 2 adds to the self-help and basic rescue skills begun in Level 1


Level 3- Stroke Development (must be 6 years old)


Students entering this course must have a Level 2 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 2. The objective of Level 3 is to build on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice. Students will be taught to coordinate the front crawl and back crawl. Elements of the butterfly and the fundamentals of treading water are introduced. Students should also learn rules for head-first entries and begin to learn to enter the water headfirst from the side of the pool (if the water is 9 feet deep or deeper). As in all levels, additional safety skills are taught.


Level 4- Stroke Improvement (must be 6 years old)


Students entering this course must have a Level 3 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 3. The objective of Level 4 is to develop confidence in the strokes learned thus far and to improve other aquatic skills. Students improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front crawl and back crawl) for greater distances. Students continue to build on the butterfly and introduce the elementary backstroke, breaststroke and elements of the sidestroke. Basics of turning at a wall are also introduced.


Level 5- Stroke Refinement (must be 6 years old)


Students entering this course must have a Level 4 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the course requirements in Level 4. The objective of Level 5 is coordination and refinement of strokes. Participants refine their performance of all the strokes (front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke) and increase their distances. Flip turns on the front and back are also introduce

Intro to Water Polo: Players will be introduced to the game of water polo. Skills introduced will be head up free style, treading water (eggbeater), passing, shooting, dribbling, ball control, offense and defense positioning.
10 – 14 years of age
10:05 - 11:05am & 1:00 - 2:00pm
Intermediate Water Polo: Players will review intro to water polo skills, and focus more on drills, and tactics of real games.
10-16 years of age
10:05 - 11:05am & 1:00 - 2:00pm
Intro to Competitive Swimming: Geared toward transitioning from recreational swimming to competitive swimming. This class will introduce how to properly use starting blocks, pull-buoys, kick boards, paddles, fins and how to do flip-turns. Swimmers will form competitive swim strokes, free style, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
7-14 years of age
9:00 - 10:00am & 2:05 - 3:05pm
Intermediate Competitive Swimming: Focusing more on harder swim sets, and improving times. 
10 - 14 years of age
1:00 - 2:00pm

Jr. Aquatic Camp: Campers will explore competitive swimming, water polo, springboard diving, snorkeling, and basic water rescue skills.
7-10 years of age
11:10 - 12:10 & 3:10 - 4:10pm
Aquatic Camp: Campers will explore competitive swimming, water polo, springboard diving, snorkeling, and basic water rescue skills. A great way to experience all high school aquatic activates!
10 – 16 years of age
11:10 - 12:10 & 3:10 - 4:10pm
